Pakistan vs Sri Lanka 3rd Test Day 3 Live Streaming Online
"We've spoken about building up partnerships and batting for long periods of time which we aren't doing," Jayawardene said after top scoring with 79. "We have to give credit to the Pakistani bowlers at the same time. On a wicket that is playing well they created opportunities. I thought [Saeed] Ajmal bowled pretty well and [Danish] Kaneria coming back for his first Test match bowled in good areas and created pressure. We need to be more positive and focussed on what we are doing.
"The pitch was not that difficult to bat but the spinners bowled really well they created a bit of pressure on us and we lost a few wickets in the middle session when they got on top of us. We did pretty well to get to 233 the main thing was not to give them a bigger lead. Disappointed that we didn't bat to our potential and got more runs on a very good wicket."
Jayawardene said the pitch was spinning a bit but was not dangerous. "We've already got a wicket, a crucial one, this evening and still they are about 80 runs ahead. But it's not a big task we have seen it before the Pakistanis under pressure the way they play.
"We've just got to make sure we are disciplined and create opportunities. It doesn't matter whatever the score they get we have to chase it down and get it. It's simple as that. The whole series the bowlers have carried us through. They bowled brilliantly. I know we'll have to put pressure on them tomorrow but they are quite capable of handling that."

The world's oldest football club, who were recently taken over by a Middle Eastern consortium, and Eriksson's agent Athole Still, are however refusing to comment on his involvement.
The Swede was sacked from his role as coach of the Mexico national side in March, following an unsuccessful 2010 World Cup qualifying campaign.
County only narrowly avoided relegation from League Two (fourth division) last season, but Middle East investors Munto Finance Ltd have made it clear they have ambitious plans for the Nottingham club which was founded in 1862.
Ian McParland will remain as manager and Eriksson will be appointed in a senior role, to be officially revealed on Wednesday, according to reports.

West Indies vs Bangladesh 2nd Test day 4 Watch Online
After a two-hour rain delay at the start of the day, Bangladesh took just 4.1 overs to take the last two West Indies wickets and bowl them out for 209.
Bangladesh reached 17 for 0 by lunch and they now have five sessions, weather permitting, to chase the target and wrap up a historic series win in West Indies.
David Bernard, who had resisted for an unbeaten 61 on day three, added nine to his overnight score, that included a six, before he was stumped as he stepped out to lift a fuller delivery on middle and off from Enamul ul Haq jnr. Tino Best too hit a big six over long off against Shakib Al Hasan before he gloved an attempted sweep to the keeper.
It was the first time Bangladesh had bowled out the opposition for less than 250 in both innings. Bangladesh have had some problems against the seamers and it would be interesting to see how they go about their task.
Sri Lanka vs Pakistan 3rd Test Day 2 Live Streaming Online
For vast swathes of the 86 overs bowled in the day, Pakistan's batsmen held sway, blunting a modest attack on a pitch that lost most of its moisture and bite after the opening session. But with stumps beckoning, the second new ball vindicated Kumar Sangakkara's decision to bowl first, with three wickets in the space of eight balls reducing Pakistan to 289 for 7. Pakistan's total total owed much to Khurram Manzoor and Mohammad Yousuf, who added 167 for the third wicket after Thilan Thushara had taken two wickets in an over to stymie a promising start. Both Manzoor and Yousuf were dismissed in the 90s, and it was left to Shoaib Malik and Misbah-ul-Haq to shepherd the side through to the close. They nearly managed to, until the new ball turned out to be the big bad wolf.
Malik, short of runs and form in the series, had struck some pleasing strokes on his way to 45, and the partnership with Misbah was worth 75 when Thushara arced one into his pads from outside off stump. Malik missed, and that was that. Three balls later, Misbah lunged to drive Nuwan Kulasekara, and the thin inside edge was neatly taken by Tillakaratne Dilshan behind the stumps. When Umar Gul then chopped one back on to his stumps, the reversal of fortune was complete.
It may have been the last bow for Chaminda Vaas, a veteran of 111 Tests with 354 wickets to his name, but apart from that Thushara over in mid-morning, there was little for Sri Lanka to celebrate after they sent Pakistan in to bat under overcast Colombo skies. Fawad Alam, with a century on debut last week, had just struck his first four of the innings, when he edged one behind to Dilshan, and if Thushara was delighted with that, he was positively delirious three balls later. Younis Khan cut one back on to his stumps, and 34 for 0 had become 36 for 2.

"Certainly if the West Indies (board) does not sort out their relationship with their players it is a concern because we need a strong West Indies team coming to the Champions Trophy," he said.
Richardson's comments came soon after the cricketers, through West Indies Players' Association (WIPA), approached the Caribbean Community and Common Market (CARICOM) to intervene and solve the imbroglio.
In another development, WICB has written individually to all the protesting players, accusing them of breaching their contract by boycotting the Official Ticket Launch of Twenty20 World Cup in St Lucia and refusing to travel to St Vincent for the first Test against Bangladesh.
The WICB has also written to WIPA, saying the strike breached the Memorandum of Understanding between the two entities.

That meant they required another 70 runs to avoid being asked to bat again by England captain Andrew Strauss.

Strauss walks back
After a mini-collapse early in the morning session, including the dismissal of Strauss for his overnight 161 by Ben Hilfenhaus, England were boosted by a 10th-wicket stand by Anderson, hero of the final hour with the bat in the series opener, and Graham Onions.
They shared 47 runs in just over 45 minutes to carry their side to 425.
Lancashire paceman Anderson then claimed four wickets either side of the rain showers in London as Australia were blitzed in the gloom.
Click here for all the action as it unfolded
Anderson struck twice with the new ball before lunch to undermine the start to Australia's innings.
Left-hander Phil Hughes gloved one down the leg side in the third over.
The prize scalp of Australia captain Ricky Ponting followed in controversial circumstances as Rudi Koertzen, standing in his 100th Test, referred a double appeal by England.
Anderson, shouting for leg before in the first instance, officially dismissed Ponting caught at slip after Koertzen adjudged that the ball had ballooned behind the stumps off combination of inside edge and pad.
Television replays showed that no contact had been made with bat and that Ponting could justifiably have been given out lbw.
He then struck in his first over back from the nursery end, following two stoppages for rain, when Michael Clarke clipped a delivery which tailed in straight to short midwicket.
And Marcus North, a centurion in the opening match of the series, perished when his attempted pull diverted the ball into middle stump off the bottom edge.

England vs Australia 2nd test Day 2 Live Streaming
Alastair Cook and Andrew Strauss forged the highest partnership by an England opening combination at Lord's - before the second drinks break, no less - as the hosts seized control of the second Test. Their stand of 196 bettered by 14 runs the 83-year-old record held by Jack Hobbs and Herbert Sutcliffe, and came at the expense of an Australian bowling group guilty of inaccuracy and stage fright.
By tea, England had advanced their total to an authoritative 255 for two, due largely to Cook's spirited 95 and Strauss' more measured unbeaten 100. The England captain raised his fourth Test century at Lord's from the penultimate ball of the second session, and celebrated with a leap in the air and a rapturous swipe of the bat. A riposte to Ricky Ponting's 150 in Cardiff had been made.
Strauss was helped no end by an Australian attack that lurched from the lamentable to the horrendous, and one that will be without the services of Nathan Hauritz in the short-term. Hauritz, in dropping a powerfully struck return catch by Strauss, dislocated the middle finger on his bowling hand and was immediately taken from the field for treatment. So savage was the force of Strauss's drive that Hauritz, upon viewing his contorted finger, immediately signalled to the dressing room in distress and almost vomited on the pristine playing surface.

2nd Test: England vs Australia at Lord's Watch Streaming
The Lancashire all-rounder, man-of-the-series during England's stunning 2005 Ashes success, made his announcement today after struggling to overcome a succession of injuries during the last four years.
He has had four ankle operations and is battling to be fit for tomorrow's second Test at Lord's.
In the first Test in Cardiff, Flintoff suffered a recurrence of a right knee injury, which follows an operation earlier this year to cure a degenerative problem in the joint which flared up during his stint playing in the Indian Premier League.
That latest injury setback persuaded Flintoff that after 75 Tests for England, during which time he claimed 212 wickets and scored 3,658 runs including five centuries, the time was right to end his Test career and concentrate on playing international cricket at one-day and Twenty20 level.
"My body has told me it's time to stop," he said. "I've been through four ankle operations, I had knee surgery just a couple of months ago and had three jabs in my knee on Monday just to get me right for this Test so I took that as my body telling me that I can't cope with the rigours of Test cricket.
"Since 2005 I've done two years when I've done nothing but rehab from one injury or another. Two of the last four years I've spent just in rehabilitation and I just can't keep doing it for myself, my own sanity, my family and also for the team -because they need to move on as well.
"It's been something I've been thinking about for a while and I think this last problem I've had with my knee has confirmed to me that the time is now right.
"For the next four Test matches I'll do everything I need to do to get on a cricket field and I'm desperate to make my mark.
"I want to finish playing for England on a high and if you look at the fixtures going forward, the way my body is suggests I won't be able to get through that."

While Australia were disappointed to have let the match slip, England celebrated on the field like it was a victory. "You can take a lot from performances like that," Strauss said. "As captain, I was very happy with the fight we showed in the latter half of that day and that is a huge attribute to have as a side - probably more important than any other attribute you have."
England's Ashes debutants struggled with nerves throughout most of the match and Strauss predicted a more relaxed performance at Lord's, where Australia haven't lost since 1934. "There will be a few guys that are relieved that it is up and running and we are underway," Strauss said. "We have seen the Aussie batsmen and we have seen the other Aussie bowlers, now it is down to just knuckling down and playing cricket. We have got a nice little bit of momentum from that fifth day, which we are really looking to build on in that first day."

Michael Clarke and Marcus North both notched half-centuries as Australia built on the hundreds from Ricky Ponting and Simon Katich to take the lead on the third day in Cardiff. England had staged a morning fight back with James Anderson claiming two with the new ball, but Clarke and North pushed Australia 23 ahead by tea with the promise of much more to come.
Ponting and Katich carried their second-wicket partnership to 239 before Katich fell for 122 and when Ponting dragged Monty Panesar into his stumps for 150 Australia were still more than 100 behind. England harboured hopes of first-innings parity, but the visitors are now in the position to claiming a commanding lead after not losing a wicket during the afternoon session

England, seeking to regain the Ashes after their 5-0 reverse in 2006-07, earlier won the toss and slumped to 90 for three at lunch.
Kevin Pietersen (69) and Paul Collingwood (64) then added 138 as England rallied.
It's all about numbers
Consecutive fours through cover from Prior off Siddle after the new ball had been taken took him to within two of his half-century. His partnership with Flintoff was what England required after a jolt following the tea break.
Collingwood edged a Ben Hilfenhaus short ball outside his off stump to wicketkeeper Brad Haddin, who made the catch diving to his right in front of first slip.
Pietersen, who survived an lbw appeal when on 61 and dropped on 66 by Michael Clarke at cover off Hilfenhaus, fell when he tried to sweep a ball from off-spinner Nathan Hauritz that was about two feet outside his off stump.
He managed only to top-edge the ball, offering a catch to short leg fielder Simon Katich. It appeared a premeditated stroke. He sat on the players' balcony angrily gesturing to himself, probably at his decision to play the shot.
The double-wicket strike boosted Australia when it seemed to be struggling for a breakthrough.
Day's action in pics
England went throughout the afternoon session without losing a wicket as batting conditions became easier than the morning, when the pitch seemed quicker.
Collingwood and Pietersen batted patiently after the loss of Alastair Cook (for 10), Andrew Strauss (30) and Ravi Bopara (35) before lunch.
A Collingwood boundary off Hauritz in the 54th over was the team's first for 20 overs.
Paul Collingwood in action
Earlier, Hilfenhaus struck first when Cook steered a short delivery wide of off stump towards gully, where Mike Hussey dived to his right and took a sharp catch.
Next over, Bopara was given an aggressive introduction to Ashes play when struck on the grille of his helmet with his second ball, from a Siddle bouncer that was speared into him.
He was hit again on the shoulder later in his innings.
Australia's short-pitched tactics paid off when a hostile Mitchell Johnson bouncer to captain Strauss was gloved to first slip. Bopara was then defeated by a Johnson slower ball that he mishit to point.

According to Siddle, Australia have worked hard on reverse swing in their warm-up games: "It's something that played a big part in 2005 so it's something that we've worked on hard. England used it a lot better than us that time, but we've done our planning and our practice and it paid off for Brett (Lee) at Worcester," blogs Siddle.
"Hopefully we can get it going here in Cardiff and throughout the series. Troy Cooley got Pigeon (Glenn McGrath) to come and talk to the seamers at Worcester for about an hour or so about fast bowling over here and wishing us luck. It's always great to listen to someone with that sort of knowledge, and he made a little joke about us not standing on any cricket ballsMonday, July 6, 2009

Day 3 Preview
Sri Lanka 292 & 217 Pakistan 342 & 71/2
A fiery mid-afternoon spell from Mohammad Aamer and stable stock bowling from Younis Khan (yes, Younis Khan) rattled Sri Lanka's second innings, setting themselves 168 to win the Galle Test, in which pace bowlers had taken 23 of the 32 wickets to fall.
History is on Sri Lanka's side (no team has scored more than 6 runs in the fourth innings to win a Galle Test and, if achieved, 168 would be the third-highest total in fourth innings here), but the nature of the pitch and the contest is on Pakistan's. During the early stages of the hour-and-a-half Pakistan batted, a record-making win seemed inevitable, but two quick wickets late in the day meant the fourth, and most likely final, day won't be purely academic.
While Aamer has been the revelation of this match, Younis' bowling proved to be the wild card yet again - after he had broken two vital partnerships in the first innings. Pakistan started the first two sessions on a high - Umar Gul taking a wicket in the first over of the day and Aamer taking three post-lunch - but were thwarted for some time by two partnerships, both ended by Younis.
Aamer's spell was the highlight, with swing both ways at good pace, and featuring the big wickets of Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jaywardene. His third victim was Tharanga Paranavitana, the first-innings half-centurion, who fell for 49 this time.

Mohammad Yousuf marked his return to official cricket with his first century in Sri Lanka, a serene innings that lifted Pakistan from a precarious 80 for 4, and put them two runs ahead of Sri Lanka's total by the time he finally got out. Consequently Pakistan were in considerable control of a match that see-sawed for the first four sessions, with neither team claiming clear ascendance.
Yousuf got solid support from Misbah-ul-Haq and Shoaib Malik, with whom he added 139 and 75 respectively. Those partnerships were the first time in the match that batsmen played with assurance for long periods. To be fair to Sri Lanka, the pitch had eased a bit from yesterday, but the wicketless Ajantha Mendis proved to be a crucial factor on the second day.

If Pakistan were slightly ahead at the end of the innings, the last half hour, when Nuwan Kulasekara and Thilan Thushara took a wicket each, made sure the match was as balanced as it was when it started.
Like 17-year-olds should, Mohammad Aamer sprung suddenly on Sri Lanka, taking two wickets in his first two overs. Like hardened domestic sloggers should, the 30-year-old Abdur Rauf came back to do the repair work, taking out beneficiaries of early dropped chances - Tharanga Paranavitana and Mahela Jayawardene. Even before he surprised Sri Lanka by breaking two threatening partnerships, Younis Khan had read the pitch well, played three fast bowlers, and chosen to field first.
Aamer vindicated the decision right away, following his first-over success on Twenty20 international debut with the wicket of Malinda Warnapura in his first over in Tests. Right from the first over Aamer got the ball to move both ways, bowling regularly in the mid-130s.
Warnapura hadn't looked comfortable, lofting Aamer unconvincingly, barely over mid-on. The next ball was shorter, moving in sharply, cramping him, and taking the bottom edge onto the stumps. If it was the inward movement that got Warnapura, the away movement should have got Paranavitana in his next over. The batsman was on 1 then. That didn't deter Aamer from getting new Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara to edge through to third slip in the next over.

West Indies v India at Gros Islet

West indies
3rd Odi at Gros Islet
The home team's performance in the second ODI marked a major improvement, particularly in its bowling. West Indies found a gem in Ravi Rampaul, who swung the ball both ways, inducing the batsmen to make mistakes, while Jerome Taylor was the pick of the West Indies bowlers. He claimed the wickets of Dinesh Karthik, Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni, each of whom had a role to play in smashing 339 in the series opener. Though they didn't have a big score to chase, the West Indies batsmen ensured their team outclassed India in every field, with Chris Gayle and Runako Morton deciding the game even before a wicket fell with a century opening stand.
India's bowlers were indisciplined in the first game, bowling 19 wides and two front-foot no-balls, and the trait seemed to have rubbed off on their batsmen. Gautam Gambhir, Rohit Sharma and Yuvraj, each got out chasing wide deliveries, while the tail, with the exception of RP Singh, who added 101 with Dhoni to save India's blushes, was hapless. Dhoni, at the end of the game, pointed out that over-reliance on Yuvraj, who has scores of 131 and 35 in the series, was not going to win India the series. And with an important game coming up, India's top order will have to step up, with greater preparedness to counter the short ball.

2nd Odi at Kingston
The Indian top-order remained suspect against the short ball with Gautam Gambhir and Rohit Sharma falling to miscued pulls. Even Yuvraj and Dinesh Karthik succeeded only after surviving nervous moments against the rising delivery. It was only after the ball grew older on a slow pitch, and Jerome Taylor gave way to less threatening bowlers, that India began to dominate. The Indian bowling was also far from satisfactory; the problems caused by the inability to contain the West Indian batsmen were compounded by an unacceptable number of extras. India's bowlers conceded 19 of the 29 extras through wides and bowled two front-foot no-balls.
West Indies did well to get so close to a monstrous target but they could have done better and pulled off a stunning chase if one of their top-order batsmen played a long innings. Chris Gayle, Runako Morton, Ramnaresh Sarwan and Shivnarine Chanderpaul all made valuable contributions to keep West Indies in the game but got out just as they were beginning to dominate India. The pressure on the Indian bowlers, therefore, dissipated and left the lower-order batsmen with too much to do.
That West Indies were chasing a total of 340 was down to their bowlers indiscipline in line and length and their inability to fight back once the Indian batsmen raised the tempo. They will have to reduce the number of loose deliveries drastically to avoid another hiding on Sunday.

Jerome Taylor, who was part of the attack that exploited India's ineptness against the rising delivery during the World Twenty20, resorted to the approach once again despite the Sabina Park pitch being far slower than the one at Lord's. He hurried the batsmen with pace, beat them with seam movement, and proved extremely hard to score off by giving the batsmen nothing to drive or cut. Unfortunately for West Indies, the pressure Taylor created dissipated because there was none forthcoming from the other end with Lionel Baker, Dwayne Bravo and David Bernard unable to bowl economically.
India started briskly, moving on to 25 in the fifth over, before Taylor unsettled Gautam Gambhir with a 92mph delivery from round the wicket that hurried the left-hander and cramped him for room. Gambhir's attempt to hook was feeble and one hand came off the bat as he top-edged a catch to midwicket. Rohit Sharma fell soon after, pulling a less ferocious ball from Baker to Dwayne Bravo at deep square leg.

ICC World Twenty20, The Oval
There doesn't seem much need for England to change a winning team, although the batting order will be interesting after Dimitri Mascarenhas was promoted with limited effect. Picking four specialist, experienced bowlers is the way to go with a semi-final place up for grabs.
England (probable) 1 Ravi Bopara, 2 Luke Wright, 3 Kevin Pietersen, 4 Owais Shah, Paul Collingwood (capt), 6 Dimitri Mascarenhas, 7 James Foster (wk), 8 Graeme Swann, 9 Stuart Broad, 10 Ryan Sidebottom, 11 James Anderson.
West Indies have a settled line-up after the successful return of Lendl Simmons at the expense of Xavier Marshall in recent games. Making up the overs for the fourth and fifth bowlers can prove an issue, but Kieron Pollard's all-round skills should keep him in the side.

If everything runs as expected they won't survive beyond the early days of the tournament, but they have the honour of playing the opening match against the hosts and they are quietly confident of making their presence felt. An England-Netherlands match has brought back memories of 1989 when an England XI were beaten by three runs at Amstelveen, a game where current captain Jeroen Smits was 12th man with Nasser Hussain and Alec Stewart lining up for England.
All eyes will be on their two leading players, Dirk Nannes and Ryan ten Doeschate, and in Twenty20 cricket they have the ability to cause real problems. Nannes was outstanding during the IPL, while ten Doeschate is a consistent performer for Essex. If Netherlands can return home having caused one of the two big sides to sweat a little it will have been a successful tournament.
Strengths
They can go out with a no-fear, nothing-to-lose approach and play with a spirit of enjoyment and excitement. If they get hammered by England and Pakistan it's what is expected, but both those teams will have to remember to show some respect otherwise Netherlands could make life uncomfortable.
Weaknesses
Their lack of depth could easily be exposed if the big two don't fire and they also lack quality spin which can be so vital in Twenty20. The one genuine slow-bowler they have is Daan van Bunge, the legspinner, who was taken for 36 in an over by Herschelle Gibbs during the 2007 World Cup in West Indies. If the first couple of balls in an over clear the boundary, he might start getting twitchy.

World Twenty20 Cricket Preview
The 37-day IPL ended on May 24, and there's only a 11-day gap before the start of the World Twenty20, raising concerns about players not getting sufficient time to rest.
However, Dhoni also said the IPL had helped prepare for the tournament in England.
"It [IPL] helped us a lot in terms of exposure and skills.
So it was more beneficial for us." Looking ahead to the tournament, Dhoni said the presence of so many part-time bowlers in the Indian squad was a huge advantage.
"We have Rohit Sharma and Yuvraj Singh who have taken hat-tricks in the IPL.
We also have Suresh Raina.
Yusuf Pathan is there too," Dhoni said on the eve of the team's departure to England.
"We have someone like Ravindra Jadeja with limited international experience but with high talent.
Pakistan Hard World Cup Twenty20
"No one can make any predictions about Twenty20 matches but I am backing my team to do very well because the preparations have been top class," Alam told reporters before the team boarded a London-bound plane.
In 2007, Pakistan lost to arch-rivals India in the final of the inaugural event in South Africa, a defeat that Alam said still hurt his players and acted as an incentive to go one better this time around.
"They have been through a grueling conditioning camp in the mountains and have had very productive sessions with a sports psychologist," he added.
Something Pakistan could not prepare for, however, was last week's withdrawal of spearhead paceman Shoaib Akhtar because of a skin infection, although he has been replaced by Rao Iftikhar.
Better news for the side came when off-spinner Saeed Ajmal's bowling action was cleared last week after he had been reported by match officials for a suspect action. Alam said Shoaib's absence was unfortunate but there were plenty of capable players in the side.
"Whether it's a Test match, one-day or Twenty20 international, the sports psychologist has impressed upon the guys that cricket is a team game and not about individuals," Alam added.
Pakistan and India will play a warm up match at the Oval on June 3 with the International Cricket Council (ICC) having decided that proceeds from the game would be given to the victims of the attack on the Sri Lankan team in Lahore in March.
The Pakistan coach said his team had some very experienced players who had the ability to adjust quickly to English conditions.

ICC World Cup T20 2009
Speaking to Cricinfo on the eve of the tournament, Elworthy admitted that the game's administrators had learnt their lessons from the disastrous Caribbean World Cup in 2007, and were also mindful of overloading the calendar with too many marquee events. But regardless of the hype and glamour of the recently completed Indian Premier League, he insisted that tickets for the World Twenty20 were proving extremely popular in what he described as a "unique summer" for the ECB.
"The key point with any product is the exclusivity," said Elworthy. "You want people walking away at the end of a match wanting more, you want them to say: 'I can't wait for next season because I can't wait for the next Twenty20 competition'.
"[It's true that] there've been a couple of very big competitions in a fairly short space of time, but it'll settle down. It is a massive summer of cricket for the ECB, but it's a unique summer. It doesn't happen very often to get the Ashes and a world event in the same year and hosted by the same board."
Australia slip from England
A turgid series against West Indies and a spate of dispiriting controversies involving the national team has spoiled England's cricketing appetite of late, although the intensity of the nation will inevitably lift when the World Twenty20 and, more notably, the Ashes approach. But for the veterans of Australia's last Ashes campaign in England, the subdued nature of Thursday's team arrival was both surprising and bemusing. And for Justin Langer, currently based in Taunton with Somerset, the lack of fanfare that accompanied Ricky Ponting's men this time around was particularly jarring.
"I suppose my recollection of last time is especially vivid, because I arrived on the day of the London bombings," Langer told Cricinfo. "I got into Heathrow at 7am, and within a few hours the bombs had gone off. It was an eerie feeling. The entire city felt like a ghost town. But well before that, the guys who arrived for the one-dayers (which preceded the Tests), said it was fever pitch from the moment they stepped off the plane. I'm not quite sure what the reasons are, but this time it seems much more low-key."
Australia's few survivors from the 2005 Ashes series might have expected hordes of baying England supporters on Thursday, but were instead greeted at Birmingham airport by a modest gathering of journalists and well-wishers. With Manchester United's Champions League final defeat still commanding blanket coverage in these parts, a Twenty20 squad arrival - even that of Australia - was unlikely to bounce Ronaldo off Fleet Street's back pages.
Still, before decamping to their team hotel, Michael Hussey spoke on behalf of the tourists and provided an intriguing insight into a new-look and evolving side; one that appears to possess little of the hubris and headline-grabbing aggression that defined the Shane Warne-inspired team of four years ago. Shots across bows were replaced by gracious compliments of England's recent rebuilding efforts under the stewardship of the Andy Flower and Andrew Strauss. Hardly the phony wars of yore.
